The Age of Change

The Age of Change
Being born at the end of the Baby Boom generation, we are too young to be old too old to be young… a mixture of Baby Boomers and Generation X. To my eyes, we are the generation of change. Born before home computers, calculators, and internet we are probably the last generation to use a library, books, magazines, and periodicals to complete a project or present a thesis.
Growing as a baby boomer last leg is a privilege and a burden. We learned the hard way from inline skating to tweeting. Never admitting that we have no clue of what we were doing. Just wing it and it will come to us, and it always does.
Life at the edge of constant discovery is always a welcome adventure. Remember the first man on the moon? One giant step for mankind, sure, not for any kid forced to watch the most boring program in the world. In a time were black and white television was the norm, we were forced to spend our free time inside watching a very poor image of a white blob on what seem to us like a badly made television set. All five television channels, focus on the moon. It was a time of simplicity and amazement. Yes, only five channels without cable or remote. On top of the television set a pair of rabbit ears antennas that we adjusted according to the channel. Connected to the television, an aerial antenna on the roof needing constant adjustment after every rainy or stormy day or during bad weather. Try setting an antenna during lightening while everyone is screaming directions from inside…priceless. Of course, the birds loved the wires and would build their nest in it, which meant another expedition to the roof or to the emergency room. Birds are very protective of its territory and are willing to pick eyes, ears, and any other exposed body part.
Time keeps moving, iPod, iPad, iPhone, Apple watch, tablets, laptops, Internet, wireless phones, Skype, Facebook, Instagram, blogs….we are a part of it…we are embracing the change…the adventure, the past, present, and future…The baby boomers are beginning to “fade” is the favorite phrase on the news, Social Security and healthcare all depleted by the Baby boomers..…not true…we are just beginning to shine…retirement as our parents and grandparents envision…rocking chairs, grandkids, and home bound is not for us…we are beginning new careers, families, and adventures…we are active healthy and willing to dive into the unknown…we feel unstoppable as when we were kids but with money and experience…be ready world…. this is the age of change…. our age of change…
